Greetings from United Buddy Bears

 "We have to get to know each other better ...
... it makes us understand one another better,
trust each other more, and live together more peacefully."

Under this motto, the UNITED BUDDY BEARS promote living together in peace and harmony on their global tour. Around 143 Buddy Bears (2 m tall) are standing "hand in hand", symbolizing the future vision of a peaceful world, promoting tolerance and mutual understanding. Each bear stands for the people of the different countries and their culture, yet not for political systems.

 

Each Buddy Bear shows the individual design created by different artists on behalf of their native countries. The international artists’ different styles are joined together in one work of art, spreading the zest for life. The diverse design of the Buddy Bears, typical for the respective countries, enables the visitors to experience a journey around the globe.

They have traveled to all 5 continents and their journey continues. Currently they are presented HERE in KL, Malaysia from 08th December 2011-15th February 2012.

The Buddy Bears presented downtown on Jln Bukit Bintang, just right in front of Pavilion main entrance! Am sooo wanna take photos of ALL the bears but too bad I couldn't. The crowd was just too huge for a Christmas sunny day! Hmm..just able to snap a few of those cool bears to share with :)

True indeed. Not only applies to the nation, but also interpersonal relationship.
 
The Malaysia Buddy Bear will join the other bears on their globe-trotting mission too! It is specially designed and painted by renowned Malaysian artist, Imuda, featuring elements of the main races, culture, flora and fauna as well as famous landmarks of Malaysia.

Since the first exhibition in Berlin in 2002, more than 25 million visitors world-wide have been able to admire the United Buddy Bears.

HPV infection has no mercy to BOTH sex

 

 HPV infection often has no signs or symptoms. AND it is easily acquired and transmitted even without sexual intercourse. In other words, one who has been infected can spread the virus to the partner without even knowing it!

If you think HPV (human papillomavirus) merely infects females, think again.

HPV (30-40 genital types out of more than 100 types):

-Types 16 & 18: cause 70% of cervical cancer cases

-Types 6 & 11: cause 90% of genital warts cases

HPV can cause:

-Cervical Cancer

-Vulvar Cancer

-Vaginal Cancer

-Genital Warts

-Other types of cancers: Anal, Oropharynx, Penis

HPV exposure is NOT limited to sexual intercourse:

-hand-to-genital contact

-oral-to-genital contact

-genital-to-genital contact

RISK factors for HPV infection:

-Sexual Behaviour related: no. of sex partner, lifetime history of sex partners, partners' sexual history

-Young age at sexual initiation

-Inconsistent condom use

-Lack of circumcision of male partner

-Others: no. of pregnancies, genetic factors, oral contraceptive use

What matter most is that it is PREVENTABLE.
